Job Summary
The Department of Finance in the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance with a preferred start date of August 15, 2027. The normal teaching load is 9 credits per semester, but a 6 credit per semester teaching load will be granted for the first academic year. In addition to teaching primarily undergraduate courses, faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities consistent with the school’s mission and aligned with AACSB standards, provide service and outreach to the University and broader community, and advise and mentor students.
Salisbury University is one of 12 colleges and universities in the University System of Maryland with an approximate enrollment of 7,250 students. Located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with easy access to the Atlantic Coast beaches, SU benefits from cultural and entertainment opportunities in nearby major metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia, Washington DC and Baltimore (all approximately within 120 miles). The Perdue School of Business serves approximately 1,500 students across 7 majors, is housed in a state of the art facility, and offers strong support for scholarship, including access to CRSP and Compustat through WRDS, as well as multiple Bloomberg terminals accessible in our Financial Research Lab. The Finance major is one of the fastest growing programs at the University, serving approximately 300 students across 4 tracks. The Financial planning track is a CFP Board Registered Program and the Investments Track is a CFA Affiliated program.
Authority and Accountability
This position reports to the chairperson of the department of finance. There are no direct reports, budgetary responsibility or authority for this position.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Finance from an AACSB-accredited institution is required by the time of appointment; ABD applicants will be considered if the degree will be completed by the start date
- Potential or demonstrated ability to achieve excellence in teaching and mentoring
- Documented excellence in scholarship
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in teaching financial markets and institutions, investments, and/or developing and teaching coursework in fintech and AI in finance
- Commitment to experiential learning
