The Department of Finance in the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Kent State University (Kent campus) seeks qualified applications for one tenure-track position in Finance at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates in all finance areas will be considered and seasoned assistant professors are encouraged to apply. The position begins in August 2023 and is subject to final budgetary approval.  Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and level of appointment. 


Responsibilities: Successful applicants are expected to engage in high-quality research publishable in top-tier finance journals and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Involvement with Ph.D. students is expected, including mentoring Ph.D. students and/or chairing dissertations.  The teaching load is 2/2 for the entire probationary period of a new faculty member and is commensurate with research output thereafter. All current tenure-track faculty are research-active and on 2-2 loads.

Qualifications: Candidates must have earned a doctorate in Finance or a closely related field upon the start date on August 20, 2023. Additional qualifications include:

  • evidence (or aptitude) of a strong research record (or pipeline) in finance-related areas;
  • skill in teaching various finance courses at the undergraduate level;
  • experience teaching graduate classes preferred;
  • experience with Ph.D. programs preferred.

About the Department: The Department of Finance comprises seven tenure track faculty and three full time non-tenure track faculty. The department has Bloomberg terminal access and a student managed investment fund with $1.2 million under management. Our faculty have diverse research interests and publish in top-tier journals, such as the Journal of Financial EconomicsReview of Financial Studies, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Contemporary Accounting Research.
